I had no interest in reading this book when I heard the original reports that M.T. really had no faith. I didn’t believe it, after all, I own about 12 books on M.T. that are amazing and inspiring, andn presumed that the author and commentators had an anti-Catholic bias. When I heard a conversation about the beauty of the book and M.T.’s faith that was presented through her “dark night”, I thought I needed to read about it. I know other great saints experienced a “dark night” and it always frightened me. If I really
had a deep personal relationship with Jesus, would I eventually fell utterly alone? was my question. At any rate, M.T. is my friend, and I believe perfectly united to Jesus, so I trust that her personal writings will lead me to a better understanding of Jesus. In this first section (to p. 100) I find nothing that is surprising about my hero/saint, but her motivation…

pg.43 shows how her mission is the same as ours, and the same for all Catholics: “the salvation and sactification…or he salvation of souls…meant for her an untiring effort to help everyone encounter God’s infinite love, and having come to know Him, to love and serve Him in return thereby reaching the blessedness of heaven.”
In our 4th Day, we are called to help all people to have an encounter with Christ, through our lives and “the weekend”so that all can live out the fundamentals of Christianity-know, love, and serve God and our neighbors as ourselves. Lord, help me and all members of our movement work to bring about an encounter with you and all those in our environments.
