I was so impressed by how hard she worked to bring the love of God to the slums and leaving all concern for herself behind. The theme I keep hearing is that she must quench the thirst of Jesus for souls, that still echoes from the cross. I wish I could hear that echo in my own soul more clearly. Even through her “darkness” she trusted Jesus, and made a resolution to smile at Jesus and become an apostle of Joy. How many of us make resolutions that we do not keep? She seemed to keep hers, in spite of her personal trial. Her life was not about her. The severe darkness that she wrote about, I’m sure was never meant to see the light of day. She only reported this to her spiritual director out of obedience. Her obedience was perfect, so she let it all out-for Jesus. i would be mortified,if some of the things I thought about were revealed. i have a filter that allows me to hide my feelings, while still having a sunny disposition. Therefore, I’m starting to think that this book is a violation of her privacy. On the other hand, everything in my life will be revealed one day, and perhaps this reading can help me to be truly converted from the inside out. What does anyone else think?????????
